From London

to Paris

This week I caught up with Dan who will be partaking in a London to Paris Cycle next week to raise money for The Little Princess Trust. A charity with which Aderans aligns itself and has worked closely for many years, The Little Princess Trust is there with a free, human hair wig to help restore confidence and identity whenever a child loses their hair to cancer or other conditions.

Waiting to meet Dan is like waiting for your number to be called at the local Argos. A very busy man whose day revolves around tickets raising IT issues across the entirety of the Aderans UK network, he’s an energetic, assiduous character surrounded by laughter wherever he goes.

Arriving back at his desk, he lets out a comedic satirical sigh and laughs. He loves it!

D:            Hello!

B:            Hi Dan!

B:            Are you excited about the upcoming cycle?!

D:            Yeah, excited, and nervous in equal measure. Erm, I never thought I would be one to cycle from London to Paris but it is for a good cause, so I just had to do it!

B:            You of course are in our Time to Fight Back video, do you feel like you’re fighting fit right now and will you be wearing your Cyber Hair System under that cycling helmet?

D:            (Laughs) Unfortunately not! I won’t be wearing that underneath, but I am feeling fit! I feel fitter when I’m wearing it if you know what I mean, but with the weather, as it is right now the helmet is enough for me! Maybe at the other end, I’ll have it waiting for me…

B:            That’s given me a great idea for our next video. Maybe we could call it Cycling with Cyber?

D:            (Laughs) …or Cyber Cycling!

So come on, there must be something you’re a little apprehensive about – it’s quite a big deal!

D:            Yeah… I’m apprehensive about the distance per day - 180km is no joke really, is it? I’m apprehensive about the heat and sharing a bedroom with a random stranger for 3 days but its cool (Laughs)

B:            Have you done any kind of event like this before?

D:            No! I have done half marathons before, and 50km cycle competitions, but other than that I’m more of a cycle to the nearest country pub kind of guy…

B:            So what made you sign up for this?

D:            It really is a bucket list kind of thing, I have always wanted to do it, and it is something to be proud of. You know, when you’re on your death bed, it’s good to have these things to look back at, right? Looking back and seeing you have achieved such a daunting task. I knew it would push me to try newer things too, I’ve never been one to do social media either but to raise money I have actually had to make some posts for it, and who knows, maybe that is a new opening for me?

B:            Hairpiece influencer extraordinaire?

D:            (Laughs) Something like that!

B:            What are you most looking forward to about this adventure?

D:            The finish line! (Laughs)

B:            Have you been to Paris before?

D:            Yes, but I’m usually holding a glass of wine and eating a croissant when I do it. This is something very different…

B:            There’s a fantastic burger place called Ferdi you should head to if you get peckish after your cycle, I’ve checked and it’s not so far from your hotel.

D:            Oh fantastic! I’ll probably need about 5 burgers by the end of this – maybe I’ll eat them in the hotel room bath?

B:            You’ll definitely need a soak after that! Good luck and have fun! It’s quite the story to tell once you’ve returned…

D:            Thank you!

B:            Merci!
